Job Purpose:

We are looking for a talented Care Solicitor to join a busy and expanding Care department within our well-established, Coventry based, law firm. This is a chance to join a highly reputable organisation, that prides itself on recognising the hard work of its staff and offers strong progression opportunities throughout a career. The OpportunityWe are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our successful Care department, with an emphasis on public law children matters. You will be working alongside ambitious and specialist individuals, with plenty of opportunity for personal progression and development. The Care team is well-run, well-established and eager to welcome a new member. What’s needed for me to be considered?
  • The successful candidate will be experienced in handling their own caseload of pre-proceedings and public law children matters
  • The firm is looking a Solicitor with a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ PQE
  • Be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and technical expertise in dealing with a mixed caseload
  • Being able to apply for and manage Legal Aid public funding for clients, including POA claims for disbursements and interim costs payments
  • Experience of using a case management system, Legal Aid Agency CCMS online and HMCTS FPL Portal
  • A positive approach to client care
  • Advocacy experience in case management and contested public law hearings
  • Experience of taking client instructions, providing targeted legal advice and of drafting applications and statements
  • Experience of briefing and working with Counsel as appropriate
  • Able to work effectively in a team as well as using your own initiative to work independently
