Marya Farooq

Paralegal

Marya Farooq is a Paralegal in the Civil Litigation Department, specialising in debt recovery. With a strong academic background and practical experience in the legal sector, Marya brings both knowledge and passion to her role. She holds an LLB (Hons) Law degree from Bristol and has built up valuable hands-on experience through regular work with a local firm in Coventry, as well as pro bono work during the final year of her studies. She takes great pride in helping people navigate legal challenges and is dedicated to delivering successful outcomes.

Marya was drawn to debt recovery as it allows her to combine her problem-solving skills with her desire to make a tangible difference. She understands the financial and emotional stress that can come with unpaid debts, and she works hard to support both individuals and businesses in recovering what is owed to them. Her role includes advising clients on the available legal remedies, drafting documentation such as letters before action, conducting legal research, and providing reassurance to clients at what can often be a difficult time.

As a team player, Marya is always ready to lend a hand to her colleagues and understands the importance of collaboration within the Civil Litigation department. Her excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks make her a reliable and consistent presence in the team. She prides herself on meeting deadlines, maintaining attention to detail, and ensuring her clients receive a smooth and efficient service from start to finish.

One of the highlights of Marya’s early legal career was taking part in personal injury pro bono work during university. This experience gave her a strong foundation in client care and case handling, and further cemented her commitment to pursuing a career in law. She continues to seek out opportunities for professional development and values the constant learning that comes with working in a busy legal environment.

Outside of the office, Marya enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures, spending time with her family and friends, and taking time to unwind through yoga and baking. With a calm, approachable nature and a real enthusiasm for helping others, Marya is a valued member of the team and an asset to the firm’s litigation offering.

We felt Askews ( Pavinder) had poor communication with us. If it wasn't for us communicating with our buyers and sellers we wouldn't have known what stage we were all at regarding our move. Constant asking what stage we were at and waiting for responses from them. It would have been less stressful if they updated us more.Their Portual was useless, especially when they hadn't checked to see if the right forms had gone on. Very frustrating sending the same form again and again. Took a few weeks for them to realiseWe thank Simran for her hard work near the completion of our sale and purchase and Shortland Horne ( Shelley) who took on the role off chasing things up between solicitors.Stressful experience
