Job Purpose:

Askews Legal LLP is a Lexcel accredited, Legal 500 recognised modern law firm based in Coventry. We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary (Care) to join our established team based in Coventry. We offer a friendly, supportive working environment, with hybrid flexible working available.
Your main role is to support and assist the Partners, Department Heads and fee earners with all aspects of their work. You will already have experience of:
- Opening files, conducting conflict checks and preparing compliance documentation
- To support the Partners, Head of Department and fee earners in the management of their workload, ensuring that the priorities of the department are met and files are managed effectively, to include diarising key dates upon request
- To deal directly with clients in relation to file related queries either face to face or by telephone, ensuring that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely and that legal matters are raised with the fee earner where appropriate
- Taking instructions from prospective new clients and providing quotes
- Dealing with routine correspondence/incoming emails/post/telephone calls and making routine enquiries, for example with counsel or experts
- Audio typing, preparation of file notes and letters and time recording on ALB case management system
- Typing up legal documents, preparing forms and applications
- Attending court to take notes or deliver bundles/letters
- Uploading documents to HMCTS Portal for filing
- Applying for Legal Aid funding via LAA CCMS online as well as for amendments to funding certificates (prior authority, amendments to scope of funding and costs limits etc.)
- Arranging the payment of invoices and claiming payments on account via LAA CCMS online
- To ensure that all internal methods, systems, policies and procedures are adhered to
- To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with minimum supervision.
